Have you tried the taulman 3D Nylon filament yet? Have you wanted to try the filament but thought it was a little too expensive, especially when you live in the UK and have to purchase it from overseas? Well we may be able to help you take your first step into 3D printing with this wonderful filament and when you realise you have been missing out on something great, then you can come back and buy a whole spool, knowing that it is the cheapest taulman 3D 618 Nylon available in the UK.
We would like to thank the team at taulman 3D for allowing us to cooperate with them on selling this beautiful, soft as a butterfly wing, yet stronger than ABS or PLA filament in our 10 metre wrap format. As with all our filaments, we are of the opinion that 3D printing filaments should be affordable enough for you to be able to try a product without breaking the bank, especially when the item is as good as the Nylon 618. The filament is delivered to you in a sealed clear plastic bag with a sachet of silica gel.
We have ran our own tests and prints and have found the Nylon to be very easy to use on a cold bed with blue painters tape and a very fine coat of strong hairspray, with our MakerBot Rep 2 X running at 240 degrees. Suffice to say that we were so impressed with the product, we knew that we needed to add it to our already extensive filament list, giving you the opportunity to try out this relatively new line, one that you may otherwise have missed out on.
For your information here are a few of the technical specifications of the Nylon 618 filament. Please visit taulman 3D for a comprehensive overview of the product.
- 618′s bonding is best at a true 245C
- 618 will not print/stick to glass or aluminum print tables
- The best table material for a new user is a flat piece of unfinished poplar wood or blue painters tape (although we did use a very slight layer of heavy hold hairspray, which worked great)
- Print temperature is between 235-260°C Part and printer dependent
- 618 does not emit any fumes for printing
So go on, for the cost a small sandwich lunch (unless you live in the city) you could try one of the best 3D printing filaments available on the market today.
Nylon 618 was the first nylon specifically formulated and processed for 3D Printing.
Technically, nylon 618 is an extremely high quality variety of nylon 6,6. Only one chemical company manufactures this specific variation of nylon. Both the chemical composition and post processing developed by taulman3D work together to lower the print temperature of high quality nylon as well as reduce the non-uniformity that nylons exhibit in the melted state.
Nylon 618 is a pure white polymer and fully capable of absorbing acid based dyes. 618 printed with 100% fill rivals it's injection molded equivalents in strength. All of the feature of nylon that we come to depend on are at the maximum in 618. Slippery surfaces, pliability, strength, non-scrape, chemical resistance and high thermal durability.
